Overview
An Institution Without Literalism
The Blue Dragon Institute is an organization operating at the intersection of technology, law, and society, tackling high-stakes contemporary issues: Big Tech dominance, digital market regulations, AI, media freedom, and civil rights.
Our objective was to develop a design system that feels both institutional and sufficiently authoritative, while remaining memorable enough to stand alongside major technological players.
At the same time, we set an internal mandate to avoid excessive illustration, opting for a level of abstraction that provides a necessary counterweight to the name. The system is built upon a few fundamental elements: the strategic use of white space and a gradient rooted in electric navy. This is punctuated by a strong counterpoint in the form of calligraphic typography.
Discipline. Precision. Space and proportion.
This is minimalism in practice—composed, legible, and serious. Through this restraint, the brand achieves greater credibility. Does a dragon appear? Of course. But it is a minimalist dragon, functioning much like a heraldic crest. On the website we designed, this minimalism resonates most powerfully, allowing the focus to remain entirely on what truly matters.
